Karma Thegsum Tashi Gomang
Karma Thegsum Tashi Gomang was founded by His Holiness the XVI Gyalwa Karmapa, head of the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism. In this remote area of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, H.H. foresaw a place where the Tibetan culture could survive. He envisioned a monastery, retreat center, Tibetan medical center, and a village where several hundred lay people could reside. We are dedicated to making his and now the XVII Gyalwa Karmapa's visions a reality.

San Juan Catholic Spiritual Center
The San Juan Catholic Spiritual Center is a unique 10-acre site that offers a historical view of cultural traditions and a Catholic way of life brought from Old Spain by the first Hispano settlers who traveled to the Spanish northern frontier from New Mexico. Visitors can trace their path at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; the San Juan Bautista Monument; and Carnero Creek Cemetery. Visitors can also experience prayer reflections at the St. John Paul II Rosary Walk, an 800-foot walkway that begins with a 20-foot original buon fresco painting of Jesus’ Crucifixion. Along the path are fresco paintings depicting 20 primary events of Jesus’ life on monuments that depict the decades of the Rosary. The Rosary Walk ends at the Shrine of Our Lady with a painting of Our Blessed Mother with the infant Jesus and St. John the Baptist.
The San Juan Catholic Spiritual Center is open to the public 7 days-a-week during daylight hours. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is only open for special feast day masses or events.
